Hi,
I am considering using ZDT as my one and only note taking tool in Chinese class. In order to do
that I need to be able to input example sentences along with the word translations in every
flashcard. Ideally, each entry would contain a text area that could optionnally be filled and
would be saved along with the rest of the card.

I guess I can develop this myself but I don’t really know where to start. I took a look at the
developer’s guide and it seems doable, even though my java is a bit rusty. Could someone please
point me in the right direction? (I don’t expect this feature to be implemented in the base
version of ZDT, this shouldprobably take the form of a plugin).

If I can’t do it I guess I’ll ressort to the usual pen and paper plugin…

If you want to write extensions for ZDT, besides some Java knowledge, you’re also going to have to
learn some Eclipse RCP programming. To do what you want to do will probably require some changes
to the user database schema to support this extra data.

Anyway, if you can wait, this is something I plan on getting to. Besides adding support for adding
additional text, i want to also allow attaching of sounds and images as well.

I’ve just finish reading this fiction named “Rice” written by Su Tong (苏童).

The novel is not very long also not really difficult to read, but this is no means of simple and
naive, the idea behind this book is very deep and strong. after days of I still feel depress.

The story begin with a young man who fled into a town because his village is devastated by flood.
he have absolutely nothing with him and starve to death, he take insult from some sumbag on the
street in exchange for food, and he willing to work in the rice store for no money exceped the
meals, and step by step, he took control of the store.

I don’t want spoil too much or it will be much less fun too read, but I can grantee that this book
is not that type of novel that you can find every day. it is a dark tale featuring twist
characters, I don’t think you can find its name on a mainstream recomme list.

but its truly genius.

here is my review in chinese you can read if you interested:

Thanks for this. It made me think of something else by 苏童 which I have suggested for the April
book of the month. Slowsonic, since you like books, why don’t you suggest this or another book in
that thread as well?
